* The
Alpha Iota Delta of Chi Psi Fraternity announces the Bethel
Scholarships to the Georgia Institute of Technology. Three
$1,000 scholarships are offered to qualified young men entering
Georgia Tech in the fall of 2007. (deadline is 4/15/07)
* The
Goizueta Foundation Scholars Fund Scholarship at University
of West Georgia is for students of Hispanic/Latino descent
who are accepted into the school prior to the scholarship
deadline who can demonstrate financial need. The application
is at www.westga.edu/~admiss.

* The
Best Buy Scholarship program rewards students with good grades
who give back to their communities. To learn more, visit www.BestBuy.com/scholarships.

* The
SAMMY 2007 Award Program recognizes outstanding scholar athletes
in grade 12 with $7,500 scholarships. Judging of nominees
is based on academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership,
community service and milk experience. Applications are on-line

* The
Georgia District Civitan Foundation invites seniors to apply
for the Alice Dodd Scholarship for Outstanding Community Service
and the Bobby Dodd Scholarship for Outstanding Community Service
(awarded to a physically challenged student). (deadline is
1/31/07)
* The
McKelvey Foundation provides scholarships to young entrepreneurial-minded
students who have started their own business and would like
to attend college. To qualify you must own your own business,
have at least one paid employee, and plan to go to a 4-year
college next fall. Apply on-line at www.mckelveyfoundation.org
and click on the Entrepreneurial Scholarship section. (deadline
is 1/31/07)
*Mississippi
State University announces the availability of “access
grants” for non-resident students. If you have at least
a 24 on the ACT and 3.0 core gpa you can be awarded a 50%
non-resident scholarship for 4 years as long as you maintain
a 3.0 gpa. For more information, visit www.admissions.msstate.edu.
* The
KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program assists students with
financial need who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree
at a public institution within their legal state of residence.
A minimum 2.75 gpa is required to apply. Applications are
available on-line at www.kfcscholars.org.

* The
Monsanto Company, in association with the National Association
of Farm Broadcasting, offers the Commitment to Agriculture
Scholarship Program to seniors who plan to pursue a career
in an agriculture-related field. Apply at www.monsanto.com.

* The
University of Michigan – Ann Arbor offers scholarships
to six first-year students admitted to the College of Engineering.
Applications are on-line at www.engin.umich.edu/students/scholarships/New_Students.html.

* The
National Commission for Cooperative Education publishes a
brochure about millions of dollars of merit college-level
co-op scholarship opportunities. A copy is filed in the scholarship
drawer in the counseling office. You can also find more information
at www.co-op.edu.
Other
News and Reminders
*Seniors,
make sure your families complete a Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) form as soon as possible. Paper copies
of the form are available in the counseling office. It’s
even easier to file on-line at www.FAFSA.ed.gov.
You will need to create a PIN number to complete the on-line
version. You should also check with colleges/universities
to check on their financial aid deadlines.
* The
official benefits website of the U.S. Government is www.GovBenefits.gov.
This website provides access and information to more than
1,000 benefit and assistance programs including numerous education-related
programs.
* If
you are hoping to receive an athletic scholarship to a Division
I or Division II college or university you must register with
the NCAA Clearinghouse on-line at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net.
You also need to have your SAT or ACT scores sent directly
to the Clearinghouse from the testing service.
