Creekside Update is a short podcast, featuring news updates on what is happening at Creekside High School.
A podcast, for those unfamiliar with the term, is an internet-based audio file (in this case, an "MP3" audio file). Podcasts often feature programming similar to talk radio, as the Creekside Update does.
Downloading and listening to a podcast requires only an audio player on your computer, such as Windows Media Player or Quicktime, which almost all computers come with already installed. To download, you can either do so "directly" by clicking on the image below to listen (or using the right mouse button to click and choosing to save the file to your hard drive), or you can "subscribe."
Subscribing to a podcast requires downloading a so-called "Aggregator" or "Podcatching Program." Examples of these would include iTunes or Doppler from DopplerRadio.Net. These programs allow you to add "feeds" that the program automatically checks for new releases. Any time a new release is made available, the aggregator/podcatcher automatically downloads it for you. (This is similar to how most email programs, such as Outlook or Eudora, work to check your email for you.). If you have one of these programs, the feed address to have it use for the Creekside Update is as follows: http://feeds.feedburner.com/creekside.
The Creekside Update is hosted, recorded, and mixed by Social Studies teacher Nathan Butler, a "podcaster" with several years of non-educational experience in the field.
